Welcome to the Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition (GNLC)

The Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition (GNLC) is committed to implementing the comprehensive changes to the health care delivery system in Georgia as part of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. The GNLC is dedicated to advancing legislation, securing resources, and implementing communications in support of this campaign. The GNLC will transform nursing practice, education, and policy to meet the increasing health care needs of Georgia residents.

Exciting Announcement!

As of September 2023, in collaboration with the Georgia Nursing Leadership Coalition (GNLC), the Georgia Nursing Workforce Center (GNWC) is housed at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSON). The GNWC is dedicated to addressing nursing workforce challenges and opportunities in Georgia. The center researches and addresses issues of supply and demand for nursing in Georgia, including retention, recruitment, educational capacity, and the distribution of nursing workforce resources. It includes healthcare organizations, business partners, state leaders, universities, colleges, and community-based organizations and is the designated member for Georgia of the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers. The GNLC is thrilled to partner with NHWSON to find a permanent home for our state nursing workforce data work!

New Emory Nursing Learning Center officially open !

The celebration of the Emory Nursing Learning Center comes during National Healthcare Simulation Week! The latest in nursing simulation technology is part of this new facility, and we are thrilled about how it will prepare the next generation of nurse leaders.

High School to Higher Education: Increasing Black Male Representation in Nursing - Year 3!

We are pleased to announce the continuation of the program for another year! The GNLC was selected as one of the recipients of the Nursing Innovation Grant from the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF).

Emory Clinic is First Ambulatory Facility in Georgia to achieve Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence

Emory Clinic is the first ambulatory or outpatient practice in Georgia to receive the prestigious Magnet recognition as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care. Emory Clinic and Emory Healthcare leaders and staff learned of the achievement during a call with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), which credentials health care organizations for nursing excellence and quality patient outcomes.

Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action

One year after the release of the Future of Nursing 2030 report, the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action convened to take stock of the work done so far and consider the road ahead of nurses charting a path to achieve health equity.

The Campaign intends to promote opportunities to help you engage and guide your work moving forward. Tools and resources were provided to assist you with implementing the National Academy of Medicine’s recommendations to achieve health equity in the U.S. built on strengthened nursing capacity and expertise.

Successful Accreditation of North Georgia Advanced Practice (NoGAPP) Residency

The NoGAPP (North Georgia Advance Practice Provider) Residency Program received accreditation from the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Program “The Consortium” on July 19th, 2022. 

The NoGAPP program is the first FNP residency program in a Federally Qualified Health Center to receive accreditation in the state of Georgia.  NoGAPP was created through a $2.2 million-dollar HRSA grant focused on building an infrastructure to support and sustain a FNP Residency program in rural GA. 

The partnership is between the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Emory University and MedLink of GA, Inc.  Dr.  Bethany Robertson, Clinical Professor at the SON serves as the academic practice partnership liaison and the HRSA project director.
